Not much going on.
Just wanted to put in an update. Not much really going on right now. Been a quiet mind week. I think because my mind has been so stressed over Enron, the new war, the old war, the dismantling of democracy by our president and congrees, and why Zander left Anya at the alter
that my brain has kind of shut down.
I've still been plugging away at the City of Heroes web FAQ. Mostly just making changes to the page output from the database I set up. Answering forum posts as well. I was talking with Courtney that I just enjoy feeling like I am adding something to the community I'm involved with. (Maybe that is why I was ok in the Army).
I'm also very much looking forward to the game Freedom Force which has finnally gone gold and should be out around March 26th. I am mostly looking forward to it because I think it would be a fun thing to goof around with my friend in multiplayer. I hope my friends find it to be fun and we can all have a lot of fun with it. I had high hopes that Dark Age of Camelot would be a game that I could play with real life friends, but for many reasons that game didn't work out to be what most of us hoped it would be.
I'm excited about getting started on an important certification. A friend of mine and I are going to form a study group for our Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA). Getting a cert will make me feel much more secure in my ability to stay working in technology I think and the tests involves the work I do on a day to day basis so it should be good. I'm a bit concerned because I don't think my friend has actually gotten the book to start studying for the first test yet. His work is buying the book for him and they are paying for his tests, or honestly I'd wonder if he was really going to do it. Not because of him, he's a good guy, just because people have a way of putting things off and not getting on top of things. This is something you definitly need to be on top of. I feel comfident in my ability to stay on it. Especially after putting some money into starting I DO NOT want to waste it so I"ll see it through. Basically to get the cert you have to pass 4 tests, costs 125 bucks just to TAKE each test, and the book to study for it is around 50 or 60 bucks. Can't afford to go wasting that kind of doe.
I'm a bit bummed because I wrapped up my DnD campaign this last weekend. I've been doing that particular campaign since the first week 3rd Edition DnD was released (a bit over 1.5 years ago). It's been up and down, but the group we've had since Nov or so has been real fun to run a game for. I wasn't really in a place where I thought I needed a break, but I'm looking foward to when Neverwinter Nights comes out this summer. I really want to do moduals and run a game there and I'm afriad if I don't give myself a break now I"ll be burnt out by then. Between the DnD game and Harn campaign before that, I've GMed nothing but the fantasy genre for about the last 2.5 years. I still like it but running in that genre was getting a little stale for me. I'm a bit worried that some of my players are upset about it at me but nothing much I can do about that. My games have been funny really in terms of peoples reactions. I've heard from others not involved in my game, that those in my game complain that it lasts such a short time. I never felt that was a fair thing to say. I typically GM for 3 to 6 months before something happens and some kind of break happens. Considering most of the time I used to once a week and in my experience I"ve not seen a game in this city last even near that long, I don't know how they could say my games are short.
