Koh-Gahn

Background
These are mostly just free-form background notes I'm working on and not a final history
Koh-Gahn still a young child when his village was ambushed and killed by Sandbender Raiders who made off with his fathers most valuable relic, the legendary "Spear of Golden Dawn". Left for dead Koh-Gan was found and rescued by a traveling Monk named Goku Namayara from the Northern Air Temple, who eventually took him back to the temple for training. A willful and rebellious child he showed a natural talent for airbending but his feelings of revenge and desire to recover the stolen relics from his tribe distracted him.
Temple masters grew frustrated by Koh-Gahn's willfulness and eventually decided to let him pursue his destiny. They allowed him to join the Stormriders, an order of warriors charged by the temples with protection of Air Nomad territory. He served for several years, mostly skirmishing against Sandbenders when his commander received a dream plagued by visions of a blackened land, in it a spirit told him Koh-Gohn must pursue the Spear of Golden Dawn. The commander woke Koh-Gahn in the middle of the night and sent him out on foot to pursue his dream.
